Sample Funeral Thank You Notes to Comfort Those in Grief

postcardlettersstamps

It is often a challenge to find the proper words to comfort those who are grieving. Still, sympathy notes are quite necessary. You need to express the sorrow you feel and covey your deepest sympathies to others about their loss.

In fact, if you are close to the person, it is perfectly acceptable to convey your difficulty in expressing your true feelings. It is our hope that the sample bereavement notes below will help with this task.

Godspeed.

Dear Lana:

I was so sorry to hear about the death of your father. He was a very insightful person, who also had a delightful sense of humor. I'm sure that you will miss him very much. You've mentioned to me many times what a great father he'd been, and how special a relationship the two of you shared.

It is my hope that your numerous and pleasant memories of him will help to sustain you during this difficult time. I wish that I could do more to ease your pain.

This Thursday, I will bake enough for both of our kids to take for their class bake sale. I can also pick up a few things for you at the grocer's when I go shopping earlier that morning. Just make out a list. If there is anything else that I can do, please let me know. Please know that you have friends who are available to help or to just lend an ear to you, during this time of loss.

With my deepest sympathies,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Mrs. Blackstone:
I was very sorry to hear about the death of your husband. I was privileged to have worked with him for six years at Branson and Stevens. Jonah was a first-rate executive, who taught me much about effectively managing people. He was patient and easy to talk to, and always a source of great advice. I'm sure that he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
I am saddened by your loss. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy,
With sympathy,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Margaret:

Our neighbor, Mrs. Kimbledon, let me know that you recently lost your sister. I was aware that she had been ill for some time, but did not know that her conditioned had worsened.

This is obviously a great loss to you and your family. It is never easy to part with those we love most. It is my sincere hope that all of you will be comforted by the fond memories you have of her.

Please know that you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. You have my deepest sympathies.

Thinking of you,
