Doing so communicates your sincere gratitude for the donor’s generosity, and reflects very positively on you as the scholarship recipient.

When writing a scholarship thank you letter, remember to include a few details about yourself.

Donors often like to know something about the students they are helping, and how their financial assistance is contributing to their growth and development.

What to Include in Your Scholarship Thank You Letter:

• Where you grew up
• A little about your family background
• What personal and educational experiences led to your college/university choice

• What your college major is or will be
• What your present experiences are at college, or what you hope to experience at your chosen college or university
• What community, educational or professional organizations you participate in

• What you intend to accomplish at college.
• What your future career plans are

It’s a good idea to have a trusted third party to read your letter. He or she may catch an error that you didn’t, and save you a ton of embarrassment.
